Josef Albers insisted that the Studies Building have a "conversation" room that would be a gathering place in the same sense that the lobby of Lee Hall had been. The room with a fireplace was located on the ground floor at the foot of the steel steps. The room was never comfortably furnished and was rarely used. The furniture in the photograph on the left is by Lawrence Kocher.
